AJ and I need your help! We have registered to walk for Sunrise WALKS, which is an organization close to our hearts! Sunrise on Wheels and Sunrise Day Camp is an amazing organization that provides fun filled activities to children struck by cancer in and out of the hospital. They also run a summer camp for children and their siblings affected by cancer.  As many of you know, AJ was in the hospital for the entire summer last year.  He always looked forward to interacting with all the Sunrise on Wheels volunteers. He loved all the fun activities they always had set up.  On countless occasions, the only time he would get out of bed or pep up is when he knew his favorite volunteers were waiting for him in the playroom. They always made sure they had his favorite activities ready for him tackle. One thing many people may not know, is that every toy/activity on the oncology floor has to be brand new and still in its packaging. This means, they constantly have to replenish all supplies and toys. As you can imagine, this becomes extremely costly. They run off on donations from people like you and me!

The summer camp they run is another part of this organization. This year we are so happy that AJ is well enough to attend this camp! Please visit our Team Page below and donate to help us reach our goal of $1,000.00

We are walking in the annual 2015 SunriseWALKS for my son AJ. SunriseWALKS is the annual walkathon that brings community together to help raise money for Sunrise Day Camp, which is the only free full summer day camp for children with cancer and their siblings. This camp provides an opportunity for children with cancer, and their siblings, to enjoy a fun filled summer with laughter and fun. By participating in SunriseWALKS, you can play a key role in sending more children to Sunrise Day Camp where they can enjoy an environment filled with excitement, friendship, and adventure – where the focus changes from hospital beds and needles to swimming pools and paint brushes. Please join our team as we come together at SunriseWALKS 2015 on June 14th at the Henry Kaufman Campgrounds on Long Island, to help raise money for Sunrise Day Camp. For more information about the event please visit http://www.sunrise-walks.org or contact me to get involved. Fighting this disease requires coming together and showing our strength in numbers. Help us show AJ that together we can bring joy to children battling cancer.

A new update on AJ will be coming soon, but here is a small recap on the last few weeks.. He is a little bummed that he still is not allowed to attend school, but he is doing great with his tutor. We are both enjoying the spring weather! He even found a new love for soccer and is kicking some serious but!! Due to his right side weakness and neuropathy he falls down a million times in every game/practice, but always pops right back up. He still manages to be an amazing soccer player and even scored two goals. I guess you can officially call me a soccer mom. He is also doing great in basketball and moved up a level in his swim class! He did spend a few days in the hospital and we found out he is still having seizure activity. We are hoping that with some new meds and a closer eye, he will be just fine!

  1. Hi Sarah – Not sure if you remember me. Kerry and AJ were in daycare together. You both popped into my mind today and I thought I’d leave you a note. So glad to hear that AJ is doing so well. Keeping you both in prayer for continuous grace and energy to catch up on life!! Roseanna (Deer Park)
